Effect of Weathered Sandy Shell Application on Growth , Vitamin A and Sugar Contents of Carrot

Abstract

|
|
Effect of weathered sandy shell on carrot quality was studied. Emergence ratio of carrot seed was the highest at 300ton/㏊ weathered sandy shell, but number of leaves and leaf weight decreased with weathered sandy shell application. The growth of carrot roots was significantly affected by the application of weathered sandy shell and marketable root yield linearly increased with the application level. On the other hand, T/R ratio of carrot was linearly decreased by the application of weathered sandy shell. The content of vitamin A in carrot was the highest in the application of 300 ton/㏊ weathered sandy shell, followed by 500, 800, 1200 ton/㏊, and control. Sugar contents of carrot increased by the application of weathered sandy shell.
